problem connecting with mIRC

If this is the wrong list for this, I apologize. 
Anyway, I always connect to random blitzed servers
with irc.blitzed.org, and after I'm all logged on and
everything, the server completely stops responding,
but I never get disconnected or anything.   This has
happened with a lot of versions of mIRC, but i kind of
disreguarded it, because cookies.* would always let me
on fine, until recently.  I'm sure it's not a script
problem, or anything, because it still happens using a
raw mIRC installation.  This doesn't happen anywhere
but with Blitzed, and happens reguardless of how many
servers I'm connected to.  I have cable now, but this
also happened when I had dialup, so I don't think any
problems arose from that change either.   Also, I'm
using Sygate's personal firewall, but since I can get
on other servers fine, I don't think that's the
problem either. 
Was there some recent code that was excluded from
cookies.* at first, or something?  I can't check the
versions or anything, because usually i don't have
enough time before the server stops responding.  Any
other ideas at all? heh.
