Hi all,

I would agree that I probably havn't been as communicative as possible 
with you all. To me, this is a hobby, and while I do very much enjoy 
keeping the server up and running constantly, I don't yet have the 
complete dedication that some of you have to the network.

I handled the technical aspects of correcting the problems liked the 
blocked ports, T:line, and no-flood-protection for the bomp as soon as 
possible, but procrastinated on sending emails to that affect, as they 
weren't as high a priority.

On the blocked ports in particular, I wanted to send an email as soon as 
the problem was corrected, but delayed until I was able to get actual 
test results to prove it. My ISP in orlando blocks ICMP requests, so I 
was going to remote into a server I have on an aDSL connection in Tampa, 
but it went down about the same time. I got back in Tampa on saturday 
long enough to determine that there was some problem with the hardware, 
but I've been too swamped with other things to have the chance to get it 
back online.

I realize that communication is very important in regards to your 
network, and if you feel this link won't work out because of it, I will 
fully understand. In the future, however, if the server stays linked, I 
will do everything I can to keep you updated.


As as side note, the direct to Level3 connection to the datacenter was 
brought online a little over a week ago. I've personally noticed great 
speed improvmenets on the server, and the routing from it to other 
places of the country is much improved. Before, with just the Global 
Crossing primary connection, a lot of traffic would head to Washington 
DC first, before getting onto the domestic Level3 network, but now I'm 
seeing a lot more direct routes, specifically using Atlanta as a hub for 
non-Florida traffic.
