In an ideal world we would not be putting our services db or
anything else on the same database server as opm because the opm
database is really quite non-trivial for a MySQL install: a couple
of tables with more than a million records, a couple of
multi-gigabyte tables...

In an ideal world I would also be taking a few months off work to
reimplement OPM using postgresql..
