   Recent votes have highlighted a possible deficiency in our (admin)
   voting method when multiple related choices are available. This is a
   deficiency that has been known about for several years but we have in
   the past been reluctant to consider changing our policies in the
   interests of simplicity.

   The last few months have seen much discussion between Blitzed staff on
   this subject, and so in order to progress we need to have an admin
   vote on the matter.

   This vote will introduce a number of terms and methods for voting,
   many of which could be open to interpretation. Therefore a more
   in-depth review of the choices have been [1]laid out in our wiki.
   Anyone wanting to know more about how each of the proposed voting
   methods works is strongly encouraged to read that page and supporting
   material; Blitzed staff have already been through several trial runs
   with each of the proposed methods.

   This will be a multi-stage vote. All servers eligible to vote should
   choose one of the following:
    1. No change of voting policy is needed, Blitzed should stick with
       simple majority voting with multiple stage where deemed necessary.
    2. Change of voting policy is required.

   If (2) is chosen by majority, our voting policy will be changed. All
   servers eligible to vote (even if you chose (1) above) should pick the
   most desirable of the following:
    1. [2]Multiple stage voting. Votes with several related options will
       be broken down into multiple stages.
    2. [3]Instant-runoff voting. Options are ranked in order of
       preference.
    3. [4]Condorcet. Options are ranked and then eliminated in pairwise
       contests.

   The following servers are eligible to vote:
     * Andryan for mango.va.us.blitzed.org
     * David for cgiirc.*
     * Dean for toblerone.hub.eu.blitzed.org / raisin.hub.us.blitzed.org
     * Iain for cookies.on.ca.blitzed.org
     * John for dope.se.eu.blitzed.org
     * Lasse for beer.dk.eu.blitzed.org
     * Mark for chocolate.be.eu.blitzed.org
     * Phil C for penguin.uk.eu.blitzed.org
     * Phil K for milk.de.eu.blitzed.org
     * Phil S for carrot.tx.us.blitzed.org
     * Sarah for zucchini.fl.us.blitzed.org

   The voting period starts now, 10:00 GMT 4th January 2005, and ends in
   5 days (10:00 GMT Sunday 9th January). Votes should be made by email
   only to Antony and Simon at [5][email protected]
