For some time now it has been acknowledged that Blitzed could benefit
from a new ircd. We have had many discussions of desired features, of
writing ircds from scratch, and so on, but nothing much has come of it
in the space of a year or more.
At present the choices available to us are as follows:
1. Stick with the current Bahamut 1.4.x-based ircd we are familiar
with.
2. Attempt to switch to an [1]Unreal-based ircd.
3. Attempt to switch to an ircd based on [2]Bahamut 1.8.x with some
help from Mark Rutherford.
Where a choice is listed as "Attempt to switch to..." this means that
we will work on the respective ircd code to attempt to make it
suitable for Blitzed including the [3]required features we have
identified. This will also include work on our IRC Services package.
All servers eligible to cast votes should do so according to our
[4]Condorcet method for admin voting, casting votes in order of
preference (e.g., "bca").

Not eligible to vote:
* Michelle for pie.wa.au.blitzed.org (admin is in testlink)
The voting period starts now, 16:20 GMT Sunday 7th August 2005, and
ends in 5 days (16:20 GMT Friday 12th August). Votes should be made by
email only to [5][email protected]
