I've worked with unreal for a year and a half now on a relatively small network <http://irc.netsplit.de/networks/details.php?net=NiX>, although it is pretty stable, it has this "don't touch it or it'll fall off" kind of feeling to it. the developers don't exactly count to ten before coming up with a feature, which leads many times to awkward extensions, totally weird and unintuitive syntax, and many many annoying bugs. unreal already has regexp g:linning, under spamfilter u (user), it works pretty well actually, but it's a shame the syntax requires the description of the ban to use underline to later be replaced by space, this is totally weird and i still don't know why they didn't use quotations. another part is the channel flood mode, which although seems useful, is built in a way that totally destroys it's potential, the syntax is horribly unintuitive, and, since you can only specify one time frame for totally different events, the results are unsatisfying. many people use unreal because it is actively developed, it's the kind of excuse people give anope, but I'm still glad ircservices are just the way they are, and i am considering going away from unreal to something like ratbox just because I'm tired to pray it won't fall apart when I'm not home.
