I'd like to nominate myself for EB; I hope this will be considered even though I haven't had a registered nickname on Blitzed for a year yet (but it's close): Time registered: May 06 10:47:16 2005 UTC (9 months, 3 weeks, 4 days, 00:44:16 ago) Anyway, that aside, I began helping out on Blitzed shortly after joining the network for the first time. Came across Blitzed after seeing some users in #blitzed that I knew from OpenProjects.net (now Freenode) many moons ago. Began helping out by joining the OPM team and being an OPM administrator on the mailing list. That is a role that I still undertake to this day (although Antony does most/a lot of the work in that respect). Shortly after I linked quiche.fr.* from a dedicated box in Redbus Interhouse, Paris. It was successfully permlinked until I had to delink from the network as I moved to a box a bit closer to home in London's Telehouse. Since then I have been global oper on tabasco.hub.* and am now co-admin (though, again, Antony does most of the work there and is the only one with shell access). I have also now been given the role of routing secretary. I can't comment on this as I have not really done much in this role, but it's further contribution to the network. I have, however, compiled a new routing plan[1] since taking on this role and hopefully it will mean a quick turnaround with regards to new server applications/testlinks etc. I only started offering assistance in #help in recent weeks, but have given a helping hand to a few people there. I try to be "on the ball" as such and have been quite active on the staff and admins mailing lists. I've tried to get the ball rolling with a few things; this would be the role people in the EB would have to undertake after all! Whilst I'm not on the systems team I do monitor the system log bots for nubian/lamancha and try to alert others of issues there (happened the other day with MySQL, by way of an example and the DNS zone issue we had around Christmas time etc). Always try and keep a close eye on the state of the network as a whole which includes the servers "behind the scenes" which run Blitzed on a day-to-day basis. I'm also a member of the web team but this is a role that I, again, haven't had much of an active role in. However, that said, I have made lots of changes/additions to the Blitzed wiki[2] and continue to do so. This includes formatting of the main page to try in an attempt to try and have users find answers to the most frequently asked questions asked in #help. I'm not sure if it's an improvement or not, however! The wiki's recent changes page[3] lists stuff that I've changed on the wiki recently. (Note the entries on the page are purged regularly so no edits earlier than 29 Jan [at time of writing this] can be seen.) I hope I haven't missed anything from the above, but if I have I shall reply to this message. Whilst I am only 20 years of age I hope this won't go against me! I also hope to see more nominations from a few other members of staff who have been around longer than I have :) [1] http://blitzed.org/docs/routing.phtml [2] http://wiki.blitzed.org/ [3] http://wiki.blitzed.org/Special:Recentchanges&days=30 Regards, -- Simon Pearson (sonorous)
