   Hello fellow users of the Blitzed IRC Network.

   As you may be aware, we have recently replaced our Executive Board and
   we have agreed on some changes that we would like to start announcing
   to you:
     * Our first change will be to the IRCd that we use. currently this
       is our own [1]modified version of Bahamut - but we feel that in
       order to continue to grow as a successful network our chosen IRCd
       will become [2]Conference Room2.1
     * The second change that we will implement as a direct result of the
       new IRCd is to allow link applications that are running on Windows
       based servers, this will enable us to ensure a continued supply of
       quality servers in order to grow.
     * The third change is that the official Blitzed mascot will become a
       slug rather than the very dated goat, however we are assured that
       the goat will be free to frolic around scented paddocks in the
       retirement home that has been chosen.
     * The fourth change is that we will start to subcontract the
       services currently offered by our help channel to the regulars
       from [3]#coattails
     * The fifth change is that our current website will be redesigned
       using Front Page, and optimised for the use of Comic Sans MS as
       our new network font.
     * The sixth change is that "The Blitzed IRC Network" will now be
       known as the "Republic of Blitzed IRC", Chancellor Tarantula has
       agreed changes to services to remove session limits in order to
       create a grand clone army
     * The seventh change is that Chancellor Tarantula has appointed
       GeorgeWBush as president, he will also act as an ambassador for
       the republic in dealings with other IRC networks/republics -
       specifically to promote gender neutral chatting.
     * The eighth change is recognition of [4]OfficeRabbit as the "only
       gay on the network"
     * The ninth change is that our Services will be changed in order to
       support an Active Directory style structure for channels and users
       - this will mean that your channels will become groups as a result
     * The tenth change is the new formation of the republican
       government, the Executive Board will be renamed to the Senate and
       the Admin Team will become the Blitzed Council

   The transition from a Network to a Republic is one that will require a
   fairly phased approach, and there will no doubt be other changes that
   will be required - and as your Executive Board/Senate we will continue
   to provide our citizens with updates as and when required, before
   finally handing over to the new structure

   We would like to thank everyone for the support over the last 5 years
   as a network, and hope that the republic will be just as successful
   for many long years to come
