The MySQL server and the web server are on the same machine and connection time has no relation to thales. I don't know what could cause the slowness you describe, other than simply machine load or a momentarily poor connection between our web server and yours. But I do know that the page generates in the same speed whether thales is running or not. Finally, I don't really see what the problem is since any browser loading a page with images in carries on loading the page content even when some images are slow to load. Even if the images never load, the rest of the content is readable.
