IRC status indicator

I have been trying to get the IRC Status Indicator to work as my forum
signature the only problem is phpbb no longer allows php in sigs I've
tried using .htaccess to force all *.jpeg's to be read as php and
renaming the script from .php to .php.jpeg still with no luck is there
a way that I can display my online/offline status in my sig?
