[sharing protocol/port info] On Sat, Mar 20, 2004 at 09:43:14AM -0800, Erik Fears wrote: > It would be better to make bopm read this data from a page served off http. I would rather see this done in DNS in proxycheck format because: - Several sites exist for that already - DNS is an better way to distribute commonly accessed machine-readable data like this (LDAP would be better, but too complex) Also I don't think that OPM's common protocols are a very good source of "common proxy ports" because there is no one doing much research on proxies for OPM at the moment. What the OPM main tester is testing for is led by other people's tips anyway, so it would be better to get them from the source (which is often a dns list in proxycheck format). It is desirable for each network to share the common protocol list amongst its bopms and it would be good if we could work that out but I personally do not think that Blitzed is in a position to tell other people what to test for. If they would like to copy our standard list in whatever format is chosen then that's their own business. Don't forget too that there is a recent patch to bopm by dg that puts the common ports into the topic of the bopm channel.
