Using the dnsbl without using BOPM?

Heya all,

Long time listener, first time caller ;)

I've been looking at BOPM for a while now, and think it would be a definite
positive step towards protecting our network (irc.bdsm-net.com adult 18+
network).  However, I do have some questions.

I should point out, they may not all be suitable for this list, if I am
posting to the wrong list, my apologies in advance, and I would appreciate
being directed to the right list.


First off.....   I would like to use BOPM's dnsbl, but not use BOPM if at
all possible.  I'm currently writing a bot to help protect the network
against some proxy floods we have been seeing recently.  My question is
this:  can I use the dnsbl without using the BOPM bot?  Namely, am I
'allowed' to simply query the dnsbl with my own bots routines, or must I use
the BOPM 'bot' to scan for proxies?

Secondly.....  Is there a bopm dns server that we can query?  I will be
writing my own dns routines, and running the bot from my connection, and my
isp is somewhat worrisome about me frequently querying their dns very
quickly (i.e. like when a prozy flooder comes on and connects a hundred
proxies in a few seconds).  If not, its no biggie, I can distribute my dns
accordingly, but it would be nice to have an address that I can guarantee
will carry a load.

Thirdly.....   With regard to reporting abused proxies.  Is there the
possibility that my system could do this programmatically?  Or is this
reserved solely for bopm (I'm kinda guessing it is, but as they say, if you
don't ask, you don't get).
