If your bopm runs on your home machine, then yes, then it does sound like you 
need to configure a smarthost for your mailserver. I recommend postfix over 
sendmail as a mail server. The postfix package available in Mandrake easily 
allows you to easily use a smarthost.

As configuration of a mail server is not really a suitable topic for this 
list, you should feel free to drop me a line if you need further help getting 
a postfix && mandrake && smarthost configuration set up.
