Here gcc4 throws errors at

config.c:191: error: invalid lvalue in assignment
make[5]: *** [config.lo] Error 1

Might be more but that is the fault one that it hits on "make",  Need 
anything else drop me a line can set
you up with shell space on my box to test with gcc4
