IRSSI is er..broken?

Hi,
	Up until a few months ago IRSSI and all my other IRC clients were
working fine, then one day when I executed irssi with the -h option to set
my hostname I get "segmentation fault". Tried and tried to fixed it,
recompiled glibc, irssi, and just about everything I could think of. Finally
got IRSSI to at least START today, and when I try to connect it hangs at
"Looking up <some server name>". Both IPv4/v6 do it, and with my other
clients I get "temporary failure," any ideas?
