Adding Ruby as an extension language

Hello

How hard would it be to add Ruby as an extension language
like perl to irssi? Is there any documentation how to do 
this except the perl documentation and the source?
Interfacing Ruby and C is quite easy so the main
problem is the lack of documentation of irssi.
