RE: locked log files on a cygwin install

Thanks for the reply.  The rotation sounds ok.  Although there would be some
lag, could I do say....a 10 minutes rotation and then have all the logs that
were created over ten minutes ago combined into one file?  I have heard of
this but am not sure how to do it.

try rotating your logs hourly? unfortunately from what I am told,
Windows requires exclusive locks on such files, and thus it cannot be
avoided.
also consider /lastlog
not as flexible as a proper grep, but a solution nonetheless
