Occasionally I send HTML messages, too, if I need to draw tables and stuff, though I prefer PDF (through LaTeX). But that's not my point. Your client may prefer the text/plain version, but some automatic web archiver might choose otherwise, and possibly doesn't handle HTML. And because of that, HTML messages don't belong into open discussion forums like this mailing list.
