filtering question

hello i am using irssi and i have turned on
serving a proxy inside of irssi

i use 'gaim' as my irc client

it appears that when i quit a particular
user in gaim (i hope that makes sense),
it issues maybe a "/PART" or "/LEAVE #channel"
to the irc server

I would prefer that when I kill my irc client,
that my actual user, being held by irssi proxy,
stay in the channel I have been in.

Is there anyway for me to filter this 
inside of irssi?
