Compiling with gc seg faults

I'm trying to compile with garbage collecting. It makes ok but when I run
irssi it seg faults.

I have gc 6.8 and Glib2 2.10.3. My ./configure is:

./configure --with-perl=yes --with-perl-lib=/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.8/ --with-gc

Anything else I should be doing?
