irssi 0.8.12 with cygwin

I've had a problem compiling irssi 0.8.12 under cygwin. "./configure
--with-ssl" finished just fine, but "make" exits with the following
error:

/usr/opt/irssi-0.8.12/src/perl/common. any suggestions?
