thank you for your reply. Well I dont require many users. The feature which I tend to require to be able to save conversations along with connecting the IM application with acrobat reader to access a specific e-book by a given user. This application will be designed for students to talk to other students regarding a specific book and they can access it using acrobat reader that will be programmed with the IM application. The programming language which i thought of using was Java. The problem I am having is that I am not ssure which client and server to use. I have installed openfire as the server and psi as the client but I forgot my user details for the server so i cannot connect the client to the server.
