Hi, ok I am not sure to understand fully your query now, so tell me if I am wrong. What I understand is that you don't need just to install a server for instant messaging, but also you want to develop some kind of specific client (or make some kind of plugin for an existing one maybe) for a custom feature of ebooks downloading. And -- if I understand well -- this feature enables users (students there) to download ebooks with XMPP. Maybe there are some XEP for data sharing (p2p?). This is some interesting feature I thought of often as a way to extend pubsub for data storing, not only text, or maybe making a p2p system with XMPP... But if you need something easy in short term, probably a better idea could be a simple bot which you can "order" books to, either by "discussing" with keywords, or with Ad-Hoc commands (XEP-0050 : http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0050.html ), then it would send the book through a file transfer query (old way, but Jingle way would be nice for the future). You say also that student will be able to discuss about a book. Maybe you can use MUCs for this? Like one MUC for each book: a student willing to discuss a book will have to connect this MUC named by the book's title. I would say that the easy way would be composed by these 3 parts: 1/ using MUCs for discussion, 2/ a bot for getting ebooks 3/ and the web based interface (as you said it shall be web-based) to "hide" all the mecanics above this all maybe (but still allowing users to use normal XMPP clients would be nice). For this all, any server and client will do (as long as they supports MUCS and ad-hocs commands). Anyway whatever you want to do, if this is something similar to what I understood, you may be in fact in the right place because this probably needs to be developped (for the bot part only)... But I don't think I can really help a lot more without any idea or proposition from your side. Regards, Jehan P.S.: you don't need to answer both by email on the mailing list and on the forum! As you may have seen, both systems are tied so you are just duplicating your messages. -- Jehan ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Jehan's Profile: http://www.jabberforum.org/member.php?userid=16911 View this thread: http://www.jabberforum.org/showthread.php?t=1263 _______________________________________________ JAdmin mailing list FAQ: http://www.jabber.org/discussion-lists/jadmin-faq Forum: http://www.jabberforum.org/forumdisplay.php?f=19 Info: http://mail.jabber.org/mailman/listinfo/jadmin Unsubscribe: [email protected] _______________________________________________
