Most clients should suprot setting the priority.

Just use a higher priority on your home client.

By the way, Psi (and maybe others) have a feature that would enable you to 
receive the unseen messages at the work. So, at home you can see the ad-hoc 
commands of the Psi client that you run at work, and tell it to forward the 
messages.
