Private IM server with mobile phone client.

Hi all,

I can´t check the FAQ and the web forum (broken links) so I´m not sure if my question is already answered.

I would like to know what will be needed to create a stand alone IM setup that will provide chat service for local wireless lan clients using mobile phones. What are the options for mobile clients software and how to setup such clients to connect to my private IM server (no internet connection at all).

The mobile phones are "china" models (no brand). No Symbian, no Android, no BlackBerry, no iPhone. The mobile phone I´m talking about are the "smartphones" known as Black Bold or Hiphone. Maybe the only client available are the Java clients. But, does all java clients will let me run on a stand alone server without internet connection ?

Do I need to run MySQL with Jabberd server to keep user information ?
