Cannot retrieve plugin configuration.

I have installled Exodus, and verified my exodus.xml file is being accessed from my windows\profiles\geoff\application data\exodus folder. >From within my plugin, I call the Exodus Controller's setPrefAsString() method, and sure enough, the string gets properly written there. However, when I call getPrefAsString(), nothing is returned!! Help! Geoffrey H.
