Socket error 10049 using JOPL sample

I plan to use jopl to make a custom jabber enabled app.
My intention is to isolate jopl from exodus.
I have started compiling and trying the example-app that comes with jopl 
but when I press Connect I get a socket exception of type 10049 "Cannot 
assign requested address"

Have you seen this before? Any idea about it?
