This might not be the issue, but it's caught me out a few times.

If Exodus is active (any part I'd say) and for some reason you hit 
crtl-a to hightlight all (say in notepad, word or some such where crtl-a 
is a key binding that is used), you inadvertantly set the "away" in Exodus.

Most times I don't realise this, and alt-tab back to what I was doing 
and it's some time before I notice that the bulb is sitting at the 
"Away" mode.

It's possible that the person has done this and the event in our mind 
that the screen saver is off when we move the mouse etc, so Exodus 
should show as "Online", is the first time we think to check our status.

I could be wrong, but that's the only time I have managed to set Away 
when I didn't mean to.
