Ok, new information:  I was about to try your solution but I decided
to try just restarting my Exodus before deleting the settings.

When it was restarted - I started receiving messages from people again.  

That's strange because I had only opened Exodus this morning.  Then I
remembered that I had a offline event waiting in queue this morning.

So I tried exiting Exodus again - and had a coworker send me a test
message while offline.  Upon coming back online, I got the offline
event.

I then had *another* coworker try to send me a message - it did not
appear (though it did, as usual, show up in the debug XML).

Further testing:  I exited Exodus and restarted right away (no offline
messages) and was again able to receive messages.  I then sent a chat
(to the user I successfully received a test message from), closed the
chat, had him send me another test message that I again did not
receive.

So it appears that certain events are triggering something within
Exodus to stop displaying messages.

Overview:
   I close and reopen Exodus
   UserA sends me message "test 1"  - successfully receive
   I close Exodus
   UserB sends me offline message "test 2" 
   I open Exodus
   I have UserB's offline message in my Event window
   UserA sends me message "test 3" - not shown by Exodus, but in debug window
   I close and reopen Exodus
   UserA sends me message "test 4" - successfully receive
   I open chat window with UserA
   UserA sends a chat and I close chat window with UserA
   UserA sends me message "test 5" - not shown by Exodus, but in debug window
   
In my testing, this is only affecting messages not chats.

Any further ideas?
