Strange new problem with Exodus

Hello all.

Just last Friday, out of the blue, a new problem cropped up for me with
exodus (0.9.0.39 with SSL)

I can get on-line, and for a time all is well.  But then my client stops
getting any new information from the server.  

The XML debug window shows the information (chats, presence changes) going
from me to the server and coming in to my client from the server, but no
updates make it to my windows or rosters.

I don't recall adding or changing any software components at all around the
time the problem started.  I have removed and re-installed exodus (several
times).  I even blew away my server account and re-created it thinking it
was some type of problem with my account.

If I use a different client (Gaim), I don't see this problem.

If anyone has suggestions or insights into this most vexing behavior, I
would appreciate the assistance.
