Sticky auto-away

Since we've upgraded to 0.9.1 we are having problems on our win98 and winMe
clients. After going on auto-away it doesn't switch back to online if the
main chat window isn't opened, no need to change status, just opening the
window. Looks like user activity isn't catched by exodus unless main window
is open and not sitting as tray icon.
Is it a system library that needs updating?
Any ideas?
