licence fee for plugin ?

Hi,

I'm considering developing a plugin for Exodus, and distribute it to
interesting clients. I would charge a licence fee for the plugin.  I would
have one installation file containing both exodus and the plugin, and would
clearly say that the package is based on the GPL Exodus software (respecting
the GPL licence).

Is this a legally valid business model ?  Has it been used in the past ?  Is
there something I should know about it ?

I would certainly contribute to the Exodus project if I were to go ahead
with it (eg. providing additional translations)
