New screen dimensions--what to do with an Exodus upgrade?

We're currently using a branded version of 0.8.1.0 in our environment of about 70 users. I'd like to go to a roll out a newer version such as 0.8.6.0 through the auto update feature, which I've built the functionality to do so into the branding file. However, in testing with the later versions of Exodus and with the existing version exodus.xml, some of the screen sizes, namely the login window, are sized differently. The old window dimensions are contained in the exodus.xml, so the screen is very difficult to read and you have to manually resize it (the new screen size is significantly larger). During the uninstall/reinstall process, the exodus.xml isn't removed, so the old values are retained. I tried to override the values manually in the branding.xml, but that didn't work. I can foresee the emails from users when they think their login windows are "messed up" if I were to roll t his out. Is there a way to force the screen dimensions somehow? It's messy, but what about a way to remove a user's exodus.xml entirely and start with a fresh one upon startup of the new version, pulling the defaults from my existing branding.xml? Thanks!
