Losing messages!

People have been telling me I'm not responding to their messages, and 
I've apparently never received them.  Today, I was watching the Debug 
window, and I watched a new message come in, but a chat window never 
opened.  I opened a window, and then I received all messages they sent, 
but apparently if I don't open the window, I never get the messages. 
I'm using the latest daily build of exodus, and the options:

Instant Messages never popup a new window
and
Block message from people not on my roster

are NOT checked.  Is there some other option I'm missing?  Anyone else 
seen this?  Should I properly report it as a bug?
