Just because two operating systems are somewhat similar regarding the philosophy behind their core, it doesn't mean that it would be any easier to share code written for a GUI app. On OS X you would most probably use a LOT of Apple proprietary UI or graphics or media frameworks/libraries that are simply not available on other unix systems.
