I am installing Jabber
v2.2.11 from the FreeBSD Ports. The "make clean" process deletes the
work files including the tools, et al.

Regarding problems with the ported software, I've mentioned in
this FreeBSD forum
thread ( http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=22355 )
that the "Make clean"
process wipes out the temporary work files (as it should), but what is
not clear about the process is that the script to generate the
requisite MySQL database schema is included or unzipped into the
temporary work files. I struggled for days trying to find a schema
build script, because after the make congratulated
me on a successful installation (i.e, make install), I
proceeded to make clean.

Just yesterday, I've realized that the jabberd (router's) client, c2s, has active code in
the c2s.xml
configuration file that calls or looks in /usr/local/bin for a pipe-auth.pl (Perl
script), and guess what? . . .the script is in the work files that I
decided to backup after a second reinstall of Jabber v2.2.11. (I did
run make clean to verify that the scripts et al. would be
deleted.)

Regardless, does Jabber v2.2.11 need a properly customized pipe-auth.pl script to
interface with the MySQL database and ultimately the registration and
authentication process?
