Plural translation problem

Hi,

I get a real difficulty to translate "%d symlink$|s$" because "symlink" is in 
fact "symbolic link" which can be translated in french with "lien symbolique" 
and the plural (unique) is "liens symboliques".

Can somebody explain me how I have to do?
It seems to me that "%d lien$|s$ symbolique$|s$" would be false because there 
is '$|s$' twice.
Am I right?
