FTP error in a script using lftp

Hello, I use lftp in a script, if I test the variable $? at the end of the command execution, the result only tells me that the lftp command ended correctly but not if an ftp error occurred during the transfer operation. How can I retrieve ftp errors from the lftp session in my script?
