BTW, the best way to find out the Qt configuration is running qtconfig from the qt4 distribution. ~/.qt/qtrc was the path for qt3, not qt4. qt4 uses ~/.config/Trolltech.conf So, as for the style: grep "style=" ~/.config/Trolltech.conf > trider@morolina:~$gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme; > echo $? > gnome > 0 Well, I met the same problem as yours. But it didn't crash, just a 20-30 seconds freeze... After that it went all ok. Seems it's a qt4 bug in QProcess implementation. The only good way to resolve this (well, for me) was to chmod a-x gconftool-2.
