If you are using rev 6602, then why did you need to patch it? 6602 is 
the latest version and should already contain the login fix.

Can you recompile the kde-gui with debugging enabled (add --enable-debug 
to configure command) and post a new stack trace? It should show which 
line the fault occurs on.
