Hmm.. login.icq.com will forward you to a random server. It uses a form of round-robin DNS forwarding.

You can always try a different client and see how the results are with that, but from my experiences it has been that you won't be able to login with any clients.

Try this:

ping -c 1 login.icq.com
then: telnet <ip from above command> 5190

See if it gives any data output (should appear as garbage on your terminal).
