can't send messages directly

I am unable to send messages direct and I can't uncheck the box in the
options that allows sending direct messages.  How can I fix that?  Is
my router responsible for this?

I have port triggering enabled in the router and the triggering port
is 5190 tcp.  The triggered ports are 24500 to 24505.
