Mathopd vs. Apache

I am fairly sad, because I will probably have to migrate my website off
Mathopd, to Apache.

Apache has 3 things I need:

SSL
.htaccess
mod_rewrite

of these, probably the SSL and mod_rewrite are the most serious..
especially SSL..

I can Stunnel wrap mathopd, but I want a bit cleaner solution... 
Sacrificing speed for functionality makes me wince, but...

So I'm wondering if SSL is slated in the works, or just on the todo list. 
If on the todo list, how far down???
