it's not implemented now, but you can easily split the
(daily) log using an script (shell, perl, php, ...)

ad 2)
i don't think that you'll find any security announcements
concerning mathopd because it has not yet reached it's
critical mass after which it will be the
target of attacks (see linux!).
also as the source is very tight & stable coded (as i think)
there won't be many chances to attack mathopd.
