Wyx, I think it is fair to say that BIP and other research layers have some advantages over GM, depending upon what they were optimized for. BIP is optimized for low latency for small messages, and does not achieve as high a bandwidth on large messages, for example. It achieves its aims by reducing the level of resource management and handshaking between sending and receiving nodes. GM is probably the best general use choice, and you should only deviate from that if you have extreme requirements. That said, we are considering...
