I didn't mean to insult anybody! ;-) And I know that today's
hardware depends on software, and it better be provided as part of
the product. (I used to be a hardware guy a long time ago ;-)

Where I'm at, we often get the very first releases of software from
hardware vendors. Sometimes even before the hardware is stable. So
I have spent a lot of time fixing things and making them work (long
before we started using Myrinet). At the same time I get a lot of
heat from the vendors and even internally for writing my own code
and not using what was supplied.

What I like about Myricom is that they are open about their specs
and make the programming tools available publicly.
