Sirpa, Please make sure to use (or look at!) the mpich.make.intel file for compiling. Here are some notes from an internal developer who build mpich on the intel compilers: For the intel machine, it was harder to get the license manager for the intel compiler working than it was to compile mpich. The user should definitely make sure that the compiler is working correctly before attempting to compile mpich. NOTE: The intel beta compiler works only known to work RedHat 6.2 on the x86. It may work on some other distributions, but it definitely doesn't work with RedHat 7.0 or 7.1. To compile all I did was add to the mpich.make: setenv CC icc and all worked well. Assuming of course that you followed the installation directions that came with the compiler and setup the compiler's environment variables correctly. I got some errors during the compile, but they all look like they are related to building java programs... or other things. Whatever the errors were, they happened after libmpich was created, so I didn't really care!!! :-) And I think these are normal anyway. I had some problems compiling as myself, but i was able to compile as root. It could be that I use tcsh, and root uses bash, or it could be something else entirely. ( i had no problems compiling as myself under the x86 though ). --Ruth (for [email protected]) ------------------------------------------ Ruth Sivilotti, Ph.D. Member of Technical Staff Myricom Inc. ------------------------------------------
