You need to realize that support receives hundred of
emails per day, for various questions, queries, people forgotten
to plug their switch, custom MCPs, wierd compiler, people asking
how to write a parallel application, etc.
The requests are verified, documented and forwarded to the maintainer,
it's me for mpich-gm technical problems.

I have one help ticket from you in my queue (8169) about problems
with boolean type in C++. I am sorry, but it's not #1 in my FIFO
right now, it's #3.
The other one I can find was submitted from David Skinner (and
also send to the list), and has been registered under help
ticket #8330 tree days ago. I have been unable to reproduce it,
but it will be taking care of when it will be #1 in my queue.

People are working as hard as possible, but do not expect a
"premium" 24/24, 7/7 next-business day support on FREE software,
where there is no maintenance contract or fee.
A big advantage of open-source is the one that Oleg shown us:
if you have a problem and you don't want to wait, look at it
yourself.

If I remember well, your machine is maintained by IBM. Did you
report the problem to them ? They have the capacity to look for
problems like that.

What would you prefer: free open-source software and 90% of
the problems fixed in 30 days, or $200 per node, per year,
for close-source softwares where there is usually no guarantee
on the time to solve problems for this price ?

Patrick
