This message is harmless.  It's a debug statement
and we'll change the print level of this message to not be seen
in non-debug mode.  

However, if you see the GM warning message "fork() not 
supported on this kernel when GM ports are open", then
a more recent 2.4 kernel is required.  But 2.4.17 is fine,
so you shouldn't have any problem. :-)
