We also get this behavior at our site, runing icc 7.0 on RedHat 8.0. Is 
there any known fix for this? Not using the optimizations kind of defeats 
the purpose of the Intel compiler ...

Oh, and it gives the incorrect result when run as:
icc
icc -O1
icc -O2

And gives the correct result only when run as icc -O0
